Education and Background: 

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from University of California, San Diego:  2003

  • Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago:  2009 

  • Pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Rady Children’s Hospital, San Diego:  2008 - 2010

  • Well over 100 continuing education training hours in various topics: grief & loss, chronic pain, telehealth therapy, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, infertility and pregnancy loss, adolescent mental health, CBT and Mindfulness techniques, etc.

 

Experienced in:

  • Using CBT to help stop and replace negative and unhealthy thinking and behaving patterns to improve mood and self-esteem.

  • Helping individuals and their loved ones cope with the stress and anxiety of being diagnosed with chronic or terminal medical illnesses (i.e. -cancer, blood disorders, chronic pain, etc.)

  •  Providing grief counseling to individuals healing from the loss of a loved one or pregnancy loss.

  • Supporting postpartum or newer moms and dads experiencing stress, mood changes and anxiety during the early years of family life.

  • Assisting adolescents in gaining helpful insights to grow and transition through the challenges of the teen years in healthy ways.

 

As a Therapist:

My goal is to bring a safe, warm, genuine, non-judgmental, and encouraging experience to each and every therapy session. I recognize that therapy is a difficult yet courageous step for those who are struggling in their personal lives and I consider it an honor to be entrusted by my clients throughout their personal growth.
